Sean Michael O'Flannery

His Story

An Educator, Veteran, and Parent Who Knows Our Schools From the Inside

Sean Michael O'Flannery brings nearly three decades of experience across Florida's public school systems — not as a bureaucrat, but as a teacher, coach, curriculum designer, and department chair who has worked in classrooms from Pinellas to Hillsborough to Pasco County.

He has taught AP and Honors Social Studies, built a statewide Criminal Justice curriculum for Florida Virtual School, pioneered the "Flipped Classroom" model at Pasco Middle School, and trained the next generation of Florida educators as a Clinical Education Trainer. He knows what works in a classroom — and he knows what gets in the way.

As a Marine Corps veteran, a father of four, and a husband to Erica, Sean has spent his entire adult life in service — to his country, to his students, and to his community. Now he's running for Pasco County School Board District 3 because he believes the board needs someone who has actually done the work.

"I have spent 30 years in Florida's classrooms. I know what our teachers need, what our students deserve, and what our board is getting wrong. It's time to fix it."

— Sean Michael O'Flannery

Service Before Self

Marine Corps Veteran and Florida Army National Guard Officer

Sean served as a Non-Commissioned Officer (Corporal) in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1992 — earning a spot on the All-Marine Soccer Team. He later commissioned as an Officer (2nd Lieutenant) in the Florida Army National Guard, serving from 1996 to 1998.

That mission-first leadership approach — accountability, discipline, and putting the mission above personal comfort — is exactly what Sean will bring to the Pasco County School Board. Our kids deserve a board member who has proven they can be trusted with responsibility.

What Drives Him

Sean's Core Values

Family First

As a Pasco County dad of four, every decision I make starts with one question: is this good for our kids? That lens never changes.

Transparency

Parents deserve to know what's happening in their schools — curriculum, budgets, policies. No more closed-door decisions.

Accountability

The school board works for the community, not the other way around. I will hold administrators and spending to the highest standard.

Community

Pasco County is home. I've lived here, raised my family here, and I'm committed to making it better for every family in District 3.
